Class 2 is a mixed-age year group made up of Years 2, 3, and 4. The class teachers are Miss Berry and Mrs Knight, supported by Mrs Brown, Mrs Moody and Mrs Thacker.
Miss Berry is the teacher on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Mrs Knight then takes over for Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Miss Berry and Mrs Knight meet every week to discuss how the week’s learning is progressing.
Our school is a great place to learn and Class 2 children love their class. They are happy, behave very well, give every day their all and have a lot of fun. Our class is a very supportive, caring and inclusive environment; one where the children have a voice.
We all work hard to ensure that we support our children to become independent, motivated and confident individuals who aim to be the best they can be. We aim to provide our children with a well-rounded school experience, one that is exciting and fun.
We work hard on the basic skills of reading, writing and maths, but there is also plenty of time for the full curriculum. Art, Music, PE and French all play a big part in the school week.
Children read daily in Class 2 and we also practise our phonic skills with a daily phonics lesson.
Each term has an overarching topic. One term may be History-based e.g. the Romans; another term the topic might be Geography-based e.g. continents and oceans. Wherever possible we try to link these topics across the wider curriculum.
Throughout the year we will share many stories, songs and poems. Drama is a favourite tool of ours to enrich learning – we use this in order to bring the curriculum to life. The children also use iPads to research the curriculum, and we aim wherever possible to get them learning outdoors.
