To all parents and carers,

There will be NO home learning work set next week, Monday 25th-Friday 29th May, as it is the half-term holiday.

The school is also CLOSED during half-term week for ALL children, except those of key workers unable to make alternative arrangements.

ALL parents with children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 have been sent an email with a detailed plan of how school will be re-opened to these year groups on Monday 1st June, which will go ahead unless there is a change to current government guidance. A copy of these documents can be found here, including the Norse packed lunch menu.

Please note that there will be NO school crossing patrol when school reopens on 1st June, so take extra care when crossing the road with your children.

After the half-term holiday, there will be a change in some of the staff responsible for supporting home learning because more teachers will be back working in school. Teachers supporting home learning will email the children in their year groups to introduce themselves and will include new contact details, if necessary. Home-learning activities will continue to be set for ALL year groups.

I hope you have a lovely half-term break, enjoy the sunshine and, as always, stay safe.

Julie Dekker

Please see this link for details of the Local Authority's public statement about schools reopening in our area.

The staff at both Great Ellingham and Rocklands Primary Schools have been keeping themselves busy during isolation; check out our video to see what we've been up to -->

In-line with Government guidance, the school will remain closed to most pupils until further notice. Children of keyworkers are welcome to attend school at Great Ellingham during the Easter holiday, unless other arrangements can be safely made.

Teachers are keeping their class pages updated with suggested work and activities. There is an expectation that children are completing some of these activities, as well as IXL, on a daily basis.

I hope that you are all keeping well. Stay safe.

Very best wishes,

Julie Dekker

Also in line with government guidance, can I please remind all children that they are not permitted to play with any child they do not live with. I know that we are enjoying warm, sunny days and that it is very tempting to play with friends at the village playing fields and recreation grounds. However, to keep the spread of coronavirus to a minimum and to protect the NHS, we must stick to the new rules and only exercise with members of our own family.

Thank you for your understanding,

Julie Dekker

We have now received advice from the DfE on how we can issue all parents entitled to FREE SCHOOL MEALS with supermarket E-vouchers to the value of £15 per week, per child. If your child has not been attending any sessions at Great Ellingham Primary, parents will receive vouchers back-dated to Monday 23rd March 2020.

Please remember that you will only receive E-vouchers during term-time. If the schools remain closed after the Easter holiday, the system should allow us to ensure that you receive the E-vouchers weekly going forward.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 who are entitled to Infant Free School Meals, and are not Pupil Premium, will not be entitled to receive food vouchers.

Guidance for key workers and parents of vulnerable children can be found here. Our school provision will be open for those children who absolutely need to attend; please reads through this guidance for further details.

For information and advice on how to help your children continue with their education from home, please click here to be directed to our dedicated home-learning information page.

If anyone has any safeguarding concerns during this period, you can contact Mrs Dekker on This email address is to be used only for safeguarding issues and not general questions about school.

Any updates about reopening will be posted here in due course and parents have been given email addresses to contact their class teachers for anything related to learning and homework.

We encourage you to join us in following the latest advice provided by the NHS website and, and do what we can to help others in these uncertain times.

Welcome to Rocklands Primary School

On behalf of the children, staff and governors I would like to say welcome to the Rocklands Community Primary School website. We aim to present useful information here about our school, whether for existing or future school families and pupils.

Rocklands School is a lovely, rural school situated about five miles from Attleborough and is larger than it looks from the road! There are around 76 pupils in three mixed-age classes. We have a well-equipped playground and access to village playing fields.

We are happy to welcome parents who are considering placing their children in our school. You can contact the school office on 01953 483369 or email

We have high expectations for our pupils; they achieve and behave well. We are a small school at the heart of our community and Ofsted have graded our school as good. We continually aim to improve our provision and outcomes for pupils and feel this is summed up in our school motto:

Small School: Big Heart, Great Expectations
